Baltimore Symphony Decorators’ Show House, 2004
Guilford House

William Morris and the English Manor House collide in this living room of rich woods, coffered ceiling, arts and crafts fireplace and a few of the owner’s antiques and artwork. Simple draperies add warmth in an authentic William Morris print which is echoed through the room in pillows, cushions and ottomans. Arts and crafts style benches constructed to cover the radiators are topped with rich clay chenille cushions. Large red Chinese hutches, from the owner’s extensive antiques collection, add character to the room. Plaster insets in the walls are covered in William Morris wallpaper to lighten and add pattern to the wood surroundings.

This 20’ by 30’ living room was split into 3 areas to create a cozier feel to this large space. These spaces were defined by neutral area rugs of the same pattern and color for a separate but cohesive look.

Awarding of the living room space was from this color board presented to the Baltimore Symphony Associates for their approval.
